Ionic Naming System
-It's for compounds of metals with metals and metals with nonmetals
- name of element + ide/ate/ite
- ide= element
- ite= less oxygen
-ate= more oxygen
-Roman Numerals for specific elements
* Fun way to remember which ones have Roman Numerals in parentheses next to the name:
Cool Cats In London Must Think
Chromium
Copper
Iron
Lead
Mercury
Tin
-No prefixes!

or...
(I)/(II) Charge
Cu, Hg
Cute people Hug

(II)/(III) Charge
Cr, Fe
Crap = Feces

(II)/(IV) Charge
Pb, Sn
Plumbers Sneeze

...it's a very scientific way of remembering :)

Covalent Naming System
- It's for compounds of nonmetals with nonmetals only
-name + ide
- name has prefix if it has greater than 2 moles
- Ide always has prefixes
- Prefixes:
1. mono
2. di
3.tri
4. tetra
5. penta
6. hexa
7. hepta
8. octa
9. nono
10. deca
